Hamza bin Habib Al-Kufi Al-Zayat, reciter and nicknamed (ink of Quran), he is one of seven famous readers, who quoted from them reading Holy Quran and nicknamed Al-Zayat because he was working in the oil trade and Hamza said: “I did not read a letter without an impact”, meaning that he does not read anything except without evidence, it’s not a diligence from him all readers of Holy Quran do as did he. So my beloved children when we memorize Holy Quran we must receive it from an elaborate sheikh. Hamza Al-Zayat’s worship
Hamza Al-Zayat was teaching Holy Quran to people, he would start immediately after Fajr prayer and received anyone who memorized Quran and wanted to read it to him.
He used to pray Duha prayer (four rak’ahs), then pray Dhuhr, after that performed between Dhuhr and Asr then pray Asr.
And he would pray Maghrib then stay between Maghrib and Isha, then pray Isha and pray at night.
He would recite Quran at night prayer by using his sweet voice and the neighbors heard him reciting Holy Quran.
Hamza Al-Zayat is thirsty and doesn’t drink water (Children’s Stories)
He was not paid for memorizing Quran to the students, but he went further and did not want thanks or reward.
It is narrated that Al-Zayat passed by some people of his town where he lives in and he was thirsty, so he asked them for water, one of them entered his house and to bring him water.
Hamza looked at him and said “Are you one of those who attend us in the reading lesson?”
He said “Yes.”
Hamza said: “take it back (i.e., water) I don’t need your water, he refused to drink, got up and went home.
Hamza hated to drink water from someone read Quran to him.
Once, a famous man from Helwan finished memorizing Holy Quran with Al-Zayat, he sent him with his son a thousand dirham, Hamza said to his son: “I thought you have mind, Do I take a reward from memorizing Holy Quran?”.
Hamza continued: “I hope paradise for doing this.”
