The second rak’ah

  • Get up to the second rak’ah.
  • Seek refuge in God from the accursed Satan, and the name of God, and read Surat Al-Fatihah.
  • Read as much as you can from the Quran or short surahs that you memorize.

Ibrahimic greetings and prayer formula

Greetings: “Greetings to God, prayers and goodness, peace be upon you O Prophet, God’s mercy and blessings, peace be upon us and the righteous servants of God, I testify that there is no god but Allah and I testify that Muhammad is his servant and messenger.”

Ibrahimic Prayer: “O Allah, pray for Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as you prayed for Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as you blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim, you are Hamid Majeed.”

Dua to finish the prayer

Say: “O God, I seek refuge in you from the torment of hell, from the torment of the grave, from the strife of life and death and from the evil of the temptation of the Antichrist.”

Number of rak’ahs in obligatory prayers

The obligatory prayers are five prayers a day, which are: (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha):

  • Fajr prayer: two rak’ahs.
  • Dhuhr: four rak’ahs.
  • Asr: Four rak’ahs.
  • Magrib: three rak’ahs.
  • Isha: Four rak’ahs.

We pray the prayer as we have learned, but in the three or four rak’ahs, we say half the greetings in the first two rak’ahs and in the last rak’ah we say the full greetings.

We also read Surat Al-Fatihah in the first two rak’ahs in addition some verses from Quran, but in the third and fourth rak’ahs we read Al-Fatihah only and it is privately read even in public prayers.
